CYCLADES
The Islands of the Archipelago
We call Cyclades the complex of the islands of the Aegean Sea, which covers an area of 8.000 km2.
The name comes from the word "cyclos" (circle). During the ancient years, Dilos, God Apollo's motherland, was considered to be the center of this circle.
Going up the mountain Kythnos of Dilos you can see the islands of the Archipelago emerging from the deep blue waters of the Aegean Sea forming a circle, a ring around the holy island.
PAROS
Paros is located at 92 sea miles from the port of Piraeus. It is the fourth in size island of the Cyclades, its seashores reach 120 miles at length and the surface is 184 km2. The island has 8.000 permanent inhabitants.
HISTORY OF THE ISLAND
Paros' history goes back to the Neolithic period. In the small island of Saliagos, which lies between Paros and Antiparos, they have discovered archeological findings of a settlement of the Neolithic period, that date back to the middle of the year 4000 BC.
The real evolution of the island began 1000 years later. Many findings of this period such as chiseled statutes, made of the famous for its whiteness Marble of Paros, vessels, jewelry, and other, prove the flourishing of life and arts in the island.

That's how they call Paros all those who decide to stay in the island. The climate is benign all year long. The landscape has lot of alternations, sometimes it's wild and sometimes it's calm with vineyards and olive groves growing even in the middle of fences made of stone.
